Angel TSENg, psy.D.
LICENSED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
My name is Angel (she/her), and I am excited to work with you in therapy!
My clients describe me as “culturally-affirming, warm, calming, and supportive,” and they have particularly emphasized feeling seen and understood in our therapy relationship. I specialize in brief therapy from a trauma-informed perspective. My therapeutic approach integrates skill-based coping strategies, dynamic interpersonal processing, and consideration of the cultural intersectionalities of each client. Because my prior training has largely been based in settings that offer shorter-term therapy (10-12 sessions), I am able to work collaboratively and efficiently with each client to identify treatment priorities and milestones, and help each person achieve their goals and see change in a short amount of time. In a significant portion of my clinical work, clients typically report experiencing significant life changes and symptom improvement in 6-8 sessions.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, cultural issues, complex trauma and intergenerational trauma, PTSD, relationship concerns, sex and intimacy, and grief and loss. Additionally, as a sex positive clinician and a member of the LGBTQ community, I welcome the opportunity to work with individuals in various sex and relationship lifestyles (e.g. polyamory, BDSM and kink).
I believe that my clients are the change agents, and within each person lies the power and capacity to heal, grow, and overcome adversity. I strive to work collaboratively with my clients, equipping them with tools to move forward in their own unique journeys.
In my free time, I am a retired bartender who still enjoys mixology and making yummy new concoctions for my friends and family. I am the lucky dog mom to a rescue named Donut, and we spend our time hiking the Oakland hills and relaxing by the lake.
